Always a Bridesmaid - an Excerpt
By Jane Beckenham
“You’ve arrived then.”
Lisa’s head shot up at the sound of a deep and very sexy voice. A voice she knew well. A voice which had plagued her every hour and whose tone shot through her like a bolt of lightening. She captured his steady glare, impaled by the outraged glinting green eyes of her knight in shining armor.
Standing in front of her was the ‘Heathcliff’ who’d kissed her goodnight. The man who had visited her dreams every night since. “You,” she finally managed to speak, though wished it could have been something more intelligent.
“So it would seem. Might I ask what you’re doing here?” His voice dripped ice and a shiver flickered down her spine.
Why did he sound so angry?
Rooted to the spot, she struggled to recover her voice, though it didn’t prevent her glorying in looking at her recalcitrant knight.
Faded denims were molded to his strong muscular legs like a second skin, and a black t-shirt tucked into their waistband outlined every sinewy shred of his chest.
She couldn’t help smiling, wondering if he wore his cupid boxers today. Such thoughts shocked her and she shook her head, cheeks turning scarlet. Heaven help her if he read her mind. He seemed to have no trouble at their last meeting.
